为什么我要做生物设计的展览?为什么设计领域不专心在设计研究,创造更多的好作品,而是不务正业的研究生物学?
提出上面问题的人或许也会在十年前或者20年前问,为什么工业设计师要研究交互页面?为什么不好好做设计来研究用户心理学?
设计已经度过了那个不断细分专业,专营专精的时期。这是一个扩展和链接的时代,设计链接计算机,有了引人入胜的数字媒体艺术,设计链接电子电器,有了辉煌的移动互联网时代。我们期待着设计链接生物学将为我们带来什么?
未来学家说,21世纪每个人都需要懂编程语言。
我大胆断言,21世纪每个人都需要了解演化思维,了解适应性,了解复杂系统,了解涌现,了解生物学,了解自然。
自然界为我们保留了丰富的“解决方案“和创意案例:能够探索出最优路径的微生物,能够保证组织抗压运行的的昆虫。在不同流体中行动自如的动物。每一片都完全不同但来自同样生产过程的树叶、雪花、掌纹。无“人“设计但难以预测的天气,以及高度可持续运行的行星生态。
这些“设计“启发着人类设计师探索适应性、可持续、变化和系统。我们希望收集和展示这些理解,并在观众的再次理解中进步。
自然界并不是顶层设计,它构建了一种设计的理念,尊重变化,接受变化,与变化一起设计。
这次展览我非常有野心的起名叫做 《Biodesign.one》,是希望模拟自然做成一个长期的,可扩展的,耗散结构展览。

Why organize an exhibition on biodesign? Why does the field of design not focus on design research and create more good works, but study biology?

Futurists say that in the 21st century everyone needs to know programming languages. I boldly assert that in the 21st century everyone needs to understand evolutionary thinking, understand adaptation, understand complex systems, understand emergence, understand biology, understand nature.
Nature has reserved a wealth of "solutions" and creative cases for us: microorganisms that can explore the optimal path, insects that can ensure the anti-stress operation of the organization. Animals that move freely in different fluids. Each piece is a completely different leaf, snowflake, palm print from the same production process. Unpredictable weather without "human" design, and highly sustainable planetary ecology. These "designs" inspire human designers to explore adaptability, sustainability, change and systems. We hope to collect and display these understandings, and continue to progress in the audience's understanding again.
Nature is not a top-level design, it builds a design concept that respects change, accepts change, and designs with change.
I am very ambitious to name this exhibition "Biodesign Exhibition", I hope to simulate nature to make a long-term, extensible, dissipative structure exhibition. The exhibition changes because of feedback (environmental choice), and it also changes because of the ideas of the main creator (self-mutation). be a progressive species. We will guarantee to update the exhibition at least every six months, and constantly update the exhibition format.

刚开始接触生物设计是因为有一门课叫“moist media”,这个词汇来源于Roy Ascott。Moist 代表了硅、干计算系统和湿生物过程的融合,极大地扩展了自我的感觉器官。他提出,“

I first knew biodesign because of a class called "moist media," a term derived from Roy Ascott.
Moist represents a convergence of
silicon, dry computational systems and wet biological processes, tremendously
extending the sensorium of the self. He proposes,

So when some friends asked me what is the difference between biodesign and material design? I can't answer. After then, in the continuous exploration, I found that biodesign is interdisciplinary design. it combines botany, anatomy, bioengineering and even neuroscience, we can express it in art, technology, craftsmanship, etc. As this exhibition introduces, we can design with biological materials, imitate the behavior and form of living things, and design for living things. Biodesign essentially transcends the traditional boundaries of art and design science, changes our values of life, and provides infinite possibilities for future sustainable development.
The original intention of planning this biodesign exhibition is of course because I love it, but I also want more people to know, understand and participate in biodesign. I also hope that this is a platform for communicating with everyone, and we will continue to operate this website for a long time.
